Is “inspired” an overused word? Well, when my days are dull and creativity has dried up I noodle on over to Bell’occhio at 10 Brady https://www.bellocchio.com/ and gather inspiration. This shop really has everything I look for in a boutique: off the beaten path, great storefront appeal, creative displays, and one-of-a kind merchandise.
There are whittled spools of French ribbon, baskets of glassine envelopes and vintage papers, swags of playful flower garlands…
the oil rubbed wooden tables, and the luxurious antique bed and linens
and the cabinet with quirky dioramas behind the many doors
and shelves of faux bois servers
and fringed papers…
This snug shop is heaven for anyone who can’t resist thimbles, tinted post cards and miniature animal figures. I mean, how fun is that? No detail is overlooked by owner/artist Claudia Schwartz whose thoughtful touch is on every surface - from the tiny handwritten tags to the painterly, faux grain walls.
I’m convinced the shops’ whimsy and loveliness can be absorbed.
And in this big world of ugly words and manufactured junk, little Bell’occhio has an eye for beauty and yes, the gift of inspiration.
